Born and raised in Zagreb, Croatia, I completed high school and university in the United States, earning a B.A. in International Relations and an M.A. in International Policy Studies from Stanford University. After graduating, I returned to post-war Croatia to work on human rights, democratization and civil society development.
I led the Croatian Helsinki Committee for Human Rights and the UN Human Rights Center in Croatia before joining the Open Society Foundations (OSF). At OSF, I supported democratic innovation and citizen participation and later headed the Countering Authoritarianism in Central and Eastern Europe Unit. I also co-founded the Academy for Political Development and the Solidarna Foundation.
Now based in Barcelona, I serve as Development Director at the Learning and Action Hub for Democracy (D-Hub). I hold a PhD in Political Science from the University of Zagreb.
